I met this family 2 years ago with their first born son- August. They had a fur sibling named "Noodle" which was a Shih-Tzu breed and so well behaved. Now fast forward some time- I hear news they are expecting a new member to the clan. A baby girl! I love when clients keep be connected in their journey. I feel like a part of me is given to the session whenever that happens. Like a self-proclaimed Aunt(haha).
I made a cute Easter setup and some other new approaches too. Big brother was curious and the idea of a new baby hasn't yet "sunk" in yet. I live for these moments!
I want to make each session as tailored as possible to what the colors in each family's home is. Momma mentioned she will have a space themed nursery for her lil' man so I do my best to add little bits and pieces to the session. I've been lucky with all these babies having such amazing fantastic hair by the way!
Big sis is such a doll and I couldn't help but mention that the parents make adorable babies. I mean, the proof is in the "pudding"!
This perfect, precious boy is on cloud 9. I know every baby is different but he was just soooo chill.
I've never had a baby with such relaxed hands with little to no startle reflex. I was literally able to pose him in any way and he would of been happy. To this is a great start of a year!

It was not an email I ever wanted to receive. Mum booked for her newborn session few months ahead and now at 9:14pm warning me that her baby might not make it. She was already in her third trimester.
What I couldn't do is offer comfort, but I did brace for the worse and just simply told her not to worry about her arrangements with me.
Of course, the story took for a better turn because you are now viewing his gallery. The tests didn't pick up any signs of down syndrome and it wasn't until birth that it was discovered. After a traumatic delivery on both Mum and baby.
All I know is- he was easily one of the sweetest babies I've ever held. He is so cherished and loved by his brothers. I didn't learn more about his journey until at the end of the session.
Every day I'm reminded of the reasons why I photograph birth! He deserves to be celebrated for his fight as he will go through a heart surgery in upcoming months.
Delicious and definitely cuddle worthy. I seriously respect the hand craftsmanship on these bindings to be honest. The linen material is rich and the leather is smooth to the touch.
These thick lay flat pages allows me to design and showcase images to it's full potential and without wrinkling edges. I want to keep each and every one that's left the studio and they aren't even of my family!
The time it took to create these album galleries has been redeemed by it's matching quality.

Mom; Fallon told me at out consultation about how she envisioned her photo session. This helps both of us get on the same page and make sure I deliver the best of my abilities to your wishes.
Her home in Washougal, Washington is very monochromatic and she wanted to make sure the wall art not only would match the home decor, but also not limiting to whether if and when they move.
A very minimalistic and clean approach to a tasteful- chic, newborn photo session.
She was giving me super Russian-doll vibes! Especially in being able to fulfill this bohemian inspired of a set-up. As you can see, she's a fan of keeping her eyes on me but I am not complaining at all, haha! Rarely do I ever get open-eyed but not crying babies so I will take it any day.
Mom received a gift certificate from her sister and I thought that was truly sweet. She wanted to make sure her niece had the best photographer in Portland. And, she was not wrong.
This sure was the best gift any family or friends can gift for a loved one wouldn't you say?
Spring and summer went quick for us at SunnyMelon Photography. I love when parents request and the weather allows for me to do outdoor photography sessions in Portland, Oregon. Outdoor newborn sessions are by far my favorite sessions for newborns. Having brand new life surrounded by the beauty of nature is truly inspiring. Although outdoor newborn portrait sessions have become more popular and wanting something "unique and different", the majority of parents still choose to do studio newborn sessions. If you love having something unique and want portraits that will be different from the newborn photos your friends and family took with their infant, this might be perfect for you! Are you expecting a spring or summer baby? We will be offering these session types again in 2020. If you are interested in learning more about photography services available, contact me for more information.
It's about once a year that I would get twin same gender babies in. And lately, it's been more and more. Something in the water I say. I'm always excited and overly eager to use my matching bonnets, headbands and all the props to commemorate this fleeting time.
I don't know about you, but I quite thought I was a genius with the heart shaped wrapping. See for yourself below =P

Creating newborn art has been such a rewarding journey for me. Personally, being a cancer survivor and loathing the fact that I may not be able to have another of my own.
This mum contacted me when her bubba just got home from the hospital and the entire time I was just trying to hold my tears back. They've waited 12 years for his arrival. 12. That's over a decade. After many rounds of IVF. I just sank.
The importance of documenting his birth is nothing short of a miracle. He chose them to be his parents and he came into their lives for a reason!
However, Mum and Dad almost didn't choose the newborn family session option and I was not about to let that happen. They needed to be included the session just as much, they are every bit deserving to honor and celebrate this incredible moment.
