To The Moon and Back: Custom Space-Themed Newborn Photoshoot in Portland, Oregon
One of the greatest joys of being a newborn photographer in Portland, Oregon, is collaborating with families to create truly custom sessions that reflect their unique journey and personal style. Bringing the Stars to the Studio
From the very first consultation, Momma shared that she was designing a beautiful space-themed nursery for her new little man. Knowing this detail was key! It immediately inspired the color palette and props for the session, ensuring a seamless visual connection between the photographs on their wall and the room where their little one would sleep.
We focused on deep, soothing colors like navy blues, soft grays, and silver accents to echo the cosmos. We sourced specialized blankets that featured delicate star and constellation patterns, and incorporated other celestial elements that made him look like he was gently dreaming among the clouds. The goal wasn't just to take photos, but to capture a piece of the love and anticipation that went into planning his space at home.
The Star of the Show
Newborn sessions always bring surprises, and this little man's amazing fantastic hair was certainly one of them! Truly, I have been so lucky lately with all these babies having such impressive manes. That beautiful dark hair contrasted perfectly against the soft, space-themed fabrics, adding a wonderful texture to the images. He was a champion sleeper, allowing us to transition smoothly through various poses and props, looking as if he was floating peacefully through the cosmos.
Capturing Family Connection
While the newest family member is always the main focus, capturing the bond between siblings is equally important. Big sis was such an absolute doll! Watching her gentle interactions with her new brother was heartwarming. Those first moments of sibling love are fleeting, and we made sure to capture a series of portraits that highlighted her pride and affection.
It’s easy to see the genetics at play here—I couldn't help but mention to the proud parents that they certainly make adorable babies! I mean, the proof is truly in the "pudding," as they say.
