The Art of Neutral Newborn Photography: A Studio Session in PDX
Welcome to a beautiful neutral-toned newborn session recently captured in our Portland (PDX) studio. When this lovely family contacted me, their primary goal was to ensure their new baby's photographs perfectly complemented the style of their older child’s newborn pictures. Maintaining a cohesive visual story across a growing family’s portraits is something I specialize in and truly love.
The family had recently moved into a gorgeous farmhouse modern home in Hillsboro, and their interior design leaned heavily on a sophisticated palette of grays, charcoal, and other soft neutrals. Naturally, our entire studio setup was crafted to reflect this aesthetic. We incorporated textures like creamy woven blankets, deep charcoal wraps, and simple, classic props that wouldn't distract from the star of the show: their newest little arrival.
The babies were an absolute dream to work with! Their calm, relaxed nature allowed us to capture a wide variety of poses and precious details, from tiny curled fingers to peaceful slumbering expressions. This session quickly became one of my favorites to date—if you can’t tell by the fact that one of these stunning images is currently gracing my website cover!
