A Double Celebration: Portland, Oregon Newborn Twins Photo Session with Damian and Kay'La Lillard

As a photographer, there is no greater privilege than the opportunity to grow with a family through their most important milestones. The journey with Damian Lillard and Kay’La Lillard’s family is one that I have adored since their very first pregnancy. For those who may not know, Damian plays Point Guard for our beloved Portland Trailblazers, and their family represents strength, commitment, and incredible warmth.

I had the pleasure of photographing their oldest son, Damian, Jr., 2.5 years ago when he was born. Now, the Lillard family recently welcomed not one, but two miracles—a precious boy and girl twin set! I couldn’t have been more excited to capture these unforgettable images for them.

The Art and Precision of Newborn Twin Photography

Photographing twins is a unique specialization that requires extra care, patience, and meticulous planning. Our Portland studio is perfectly set up to ensure both babies are safe, comfortable, and content throughout the entire session.

Twin sessions are beautiful because they capture the innate connection these siblings share from the very beginning. We focused on delicate poses where the babies were cuddled close, showcasing their special bond. While one twin was being gently posed, the other was kept warm and cozy, ensuring a smooth and stress-free flow for the parents and the babies. Every portrait is a testament to the fact that these two are already a perfect pair.

Welcoming Big Brother into the Frame

An equally important part of this session was capturing the new family dynamic, which now includes big brother Damian, Jr. Watching him interact with his new siblings was pure magic! We took special care to capture those tender moments of the big brother giving his new twin siblings a gentle kiss or just holding their tiny hands. These sibling and full-family portraits are the ones that truly tell the story of their growing family.

It is always an honor to document the newborn stage, but capturing twins is a powerful reminder of how quickly life changes. Thank you to the Lillard family for allowing us to share in this incredible chapter.
